Another successful Backpack Project is almost complete. We are very pleased that 150 students will go back to school in style with a backpack, lunch kit, water bottle and even some special treats.
The Shelburne Food Bank registered the students and the Rotary Club of Shelburne purchased age appropriate items for each grade level with the generous donations received.
A sincere thank you goes out to the Town of Shelburne and Tim Horton’s Smile Cookies for funding a significant portion of the project.
Len Guchardi once again outdid himself and donated 54 backpacks.
Linda Lennox put a shout out to her Tupperware community and had 150 lunch kits donated to the Backpack Project. Linda donated her commission on these sales to the Shelburne Food Bank.
Penny Normington is an avid sewer and has challenged herself to make enough pencil cases in fun fabrics for all of the backpacks. Thank you, Penny!!!
Thank you for all the wonderful donations from local community members, Rotary Members, Friends of Rotary, Honorary Rotary Members and Food Bank volunteers.
On August 1 Rotary members packed the backpacks and delivered them the following day to the food bank so they can be distributed to the registered students in time for the first day of school in September.
The project has grown and been embraced by the entire community.
Donations are still welcomed and needed. If you are able, please donate.
